Bc Students
- Helene S. Gemeinhardt: Genetic variation of Ranunculus sect. Batrachium populations (Biological Chemistry, since 2017)
The aim of this thesis is to test the use of microsatellites (SSRs) to study the population genetics of Batrachium populations. Microsatellite primers were devoloped for one Asian species of this group, the student is testing crossamplification and usability of these primers on central European species. - Linda Vlčková: Určování terestrických forem lakušníků (Determination of terrestrial forms of water-crowfoots, Ranunculus sect. Batrachium; since 2018)
The current determination literature on this group of plants is based on typical individual from deep waters. However, a peculiar forms that grow on wet substrate (such as exposed bottoms of fishponds) are frequent. The range of morphological variation of these forms as well as stability of characters compared to aquatic individuals are little known. Many terrestrial individuals are indeterminable based on the recent literature. The student will collect samples in the field and measure important morphological characters; determination will be confirmed using flow cytometry (genome sizes, which are specific for individual species). Further use of molecular methods is also possible (e.g. to detect hybrids). - Viktorie Brožová: Altitudinal distribution of apomixis in the high-alpine flora of the Ladakh, NW Himalaya (finished 2015, konzultant)
