The herbarium is housed at the Botany Department of the Faculty of Science. Our collections include vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens and algae.
The bryophyte herbarium contains at present (2013) c. 16 500 specimens, which all are databased. The absolute majority of these are recent collections of J. Kučera, with the geographic focus on Central Europe. The Czech Republic and Austria are the best represented countries (together more than two thirds of collections). Nevertheless, we have also interesting material and exsiccates from outside Europe, particularly from Transbaikalia and other regions of Russia, thanks to the cooperation with Dr. O. M. Afonina (St. Petersburg) and Dr. M. S. Ignatov (Moscow).
The CBFS herbarium houses types of mosses described by J. Kučera.
