Abstract: The occurrence of the epiphytic lichen Hyperphyscia adglutinata in Slovakia is summarized. There are several reports from the first half of the 20th century, even of fertile thalli. However, recent occurrence is limited. The species has its distributional optimum in Mediterranean Europe, where is particularly abundant in dry and eutrophicated habitats. In Slovakia, it has been reported accompanied by several rare species. These are Arthrosporum populorum, a species known only from historical collections; Strigula affinis, a species listed as extinct in Slovakia; Candelariella subdeflexa, which is reported as new to Slovakia, maybe in part overlooked due to often sterile habit. As a consequence of habitat eutrophication, H. adglutinata is supposed to spread in the future, together with other nitrophilous lichens.
